Every Hoopla Hosting VPS comes with a management page in the client area. From there you can power your server on and off, open a console, reinstall the operating system, see your IP addresses and check your usage graphs, all without logging in to the server.
Open your VPS management page
- Log in to the client area and go to Services → My Services (https://www.hooplahosting.co.nz/client/clientarea.php?action=services).
- Click Manage next to your VPS.
Power status and controls
At the top of the page you'll see the Power Status (for example, Online), your plan name and the operating system installed. Below that are the power buttons:
- Reboot: restarts the server cleanly, the same as running
rebooton the server. Use this first. - Reset: a hard restart, like pressing the reset button on a physical computer. Only use this if the server has frozen and won't respond to a normal reboot, because unsaved data can be lost.
- Power Off: turns the server off. It stays off, and you can't connect to it, until you power it back on from this page.
Powering off doesn't pause billing. Your VPS is still reserved for you, and charged as normal, while it's off.
Open Console
The Open Console button opens your server's screen in your browser. It works even if SSH isn't working, for example if a firewall rule has locked you out or the network settings are wrong. Log in with root and your root password.
Reinstall the operating system
The Reinstallation tab lets you install a fresh copy of AlmaLinux, Debian, Rocky Linux or Ubuntu. Choose the operating system, pick a version from the drop-down, and confirm.
Reinstalling erases everything on your VPS. Take a copy of anything you need first.
Backups
If you've added VPS backups to your plan, click Login To Panel to open the backup manager, where you can see and restore your backups. You can check whether your plan includes backups on the Additional Information tab, under VPS Backups. To add backups, use Upgrade/Downgrade in the left-hand menu.
IP assignments and reverse DNS
The IP Assignments section lists your VPS's IP address, netmask and gateway. The RDNS column shows the reverse DNS (PTR) name for the IP address. Reverse DNS matters most if you send email from your VPS, because many mail servers check it. Click the RDNS entry to set it to your server's hostname, for example server.example.co.nz. Make sure that hostname also has an A record pointing back to your VPS IP address.
Network and resource graphs
At the bottom of the page:
- Network Graphs show your traffic in and out.
- Resources Graphs show how much CPU, memory and disk your VPS is using.
Choose 24 Hours, 14 Days, 30 Days, All or a Custom date range. These graphs are useful for spotting busy times, or seeing whether you're outgrowing your plan.
Plan details, add-ons and billing
- Additional Information tab: the options on your plan, such as your IP allocation, operating system, cPanel licence and backups.
- Available Addons tab: extras you can add to your VPS.
- Billing Details: your recurring amount, billing cycle and next due date.
Upgrade or cancel
In the left-hand menu:
- Upgrade/Downgrade moves your VPS to a bigger or smaller plan.
- Request Cancellation cancels your VPS. Please give at least 2 business days' notice before your renewal date, and take your own backup first. Everything on the VPS is deleted when the service ends.
