Advice and answers from the Hoopla team

Shared Hosting FAQ

What is web hosting?

Web hosting gives your website a home on the internet. Your website files, databases and email services are stored on hosting infrastructure so visitors can reach your site using your domain name.

Which web hosting plan should I choose?

Start with the size and type of website you run, how much storage and traffic you expect, and whether you need email hosting. If you are unsure, contact our team and we can help you choose a suitable plan.

Can Hoopla Hosting transfer my website?

Yes. Migration assistance is included with our hosting plans. We can help move supported website files, databases and email from your existing provider and coordinate the changeover to reduce disruption. See our website migration page for more information.

Can I host email with my website?

Yes. Our cPanel web hosting plans support email on your own domain, so you can create addresses such as hello@yourdomain.co.nz and manage them from cPanel.

Can I register or transfer a domain with Hoopla?

Yes. You can register a new domain or transfer an existing domain to Hoopla Hosting. Visit our domain registration page to get started.

Do your hosting plans include SSL?

Our cPanel hosting includes SSL certificate support for hosted domains. SSL encrypts traffic between your website and its visitors and enables HTTPS.

Can I upgrade my hosting later?

Yes. If your website grows or needs more resources, contact us and we can help you move to a more suitable hosting plan.

Reseller Hosting FAQ

What is reseller hosting?

Reseller hosting lets you create and manage separate hosting accounts for your own customers or websites from one reseller service. It is commonly used by web designers, developers and agencies that manage hosting for multiple clients.

Can you migrate my existing reseller accounts?

Yes. Migration assistance is included with our hosting plans. For supported cPanel accounts, our team can help plan and migrate your existing customer accounts to your Hoopla reseller service.

How do I choose the right reseller plan?

Consider how many accounts you need to host, their combined storage and bandwidth requirements, and how quickly you expect to grow. If you are unsure, talk to our team and we can help you choose an appropriate starting point.

How quickly is reseller hosting provisioned?

Most orders are provisioned automatically once payment and account checks are complete. Some orders may require manual review before the service is activated.

Do I get WHM access?

Yes. Reseller hosting uses WHM to create and manage individual cPanel hosting accounts for your customers.

Can I use my own branding (white label hosting)?

Yes. Reseller hosting includes cPanel branding and custom nameservers as standard, so you can resell services under your own brand. Your customers see your business name and client-facing details rather than Hoopla Hosting, while we provide the underlying infrastructure behind the scenes. If you have specific white-label requirements, contact us and we can advise on the available options.

Can I use custom nameservers with my reseller account?

Yes. Custom (private) nameservers, such as ns1.yourdomain.co.nz and ns2.yourdomain.co.nz, are included as standard with reseller hosting, so hosting can be presented under your own brand rather than ours. This is set up by our team, so contact us and we can help set these up for your account.

Can I resell domain names?

Yes. Domain reseller is available as an optional extra on our reseller hosting plans, letting you register and manage domains for your customers under your own service through your own WHMCS. See our domain reseller page or contact us for current options and pricing.

Are WHMCS licences available?

WHMCS licensing options may be available for reseller customers. Contact us for current licensing options and pricing.

Business Hosting FAQ

What is business hosting?

Business hosting is designed for organisations that need more hosting resources and support than a typical entry-level shared hosting service, without having to manage their own server.

How do I choose the right business hosting plan?

Consider your website traffic, storage, database usage, email requirements and the applications you run. If you are not sure what you need, send us your requirements and we can recommend an appropriate option.

Can you build a custom hosting solution?

Yes. If a standard hosting plan does not fit your requirements, we can discuss a tailored solution. For larger or more demanding workloads, see our Enterprise Hosting options.

Can you migrate our business website and email?

Yes. Migration assistance is included with our hosting plans. We can help move supported websites, databases and email and plan the cutover around your business requirements.

Can business hosting grow with our website?

Yes. If your website needs more resources over time, we can help you move to a larger hosting plan or discuss VPS and enterprise options where appropriate.

Do you provide local support?

Yes. Hoopla Hosting provides New Zealand-based support for our hosting services. If you need help with your service, you can contact our team through the available support channels.

Australian Hosting FAQ

What is Australian web hosting?

Australian web hosting places your hosting service on infrastructure intended for websites serving Australian users. Hosting closer to your audience can help reduce network latency and provides an Australian hosting location for organisations that prefer it.

Can you transfer my website to Australian hosting?

Yes. Migration assistance is included with our hosting plans. We can help move supported websites, databases and email from your existing provider and coordinate the cutover.

Is LiteSpeed available?

LiteSpeed is available on supported Hoopla shared and reseller hosting services. It is designed to serve web content efficiently and can work with caching plugins used by applications such as WordPress.

Can I register a domain as well?

Yes. You can manage hosting and domain services with Hoopla Hosting. Visit our domain registration page to search for or transfer a domain.

What is the difference between cloud and traditional shared hosting?

Shared hosting describes how multiple customer accounts share hosting resources. Cloud infrastructure describes how the underlying compute and storage platform is built. A hosting service can therefore be both shared hosting and hosted on cloud infrastructure.

Should I choose Australian or New Zealand hosting?

Choose the location that best fits your audience, business requirements and other technical needs. If most of your visitors are in one country, hosting closer to them can reduce network latency. Contact us if you would like help choosing a location.
