What is WHMCS?

WHMCS is the billing and automation platform used by thousands of web hosting companies, including Hoopla. It brings everything a hosting business needs into one system: a customer portal, ordering, invoicing, payments, support tickets and automatic provisioning of hosting accounts and domains.

Paired with Hoopla reseller hosting, WHMCS connects to WHM so cPanel accounts are created as soon as a customer pays, suspended if invoices are overdue and removed when a service is cancelled. With our optional domain reseller service, domain registrations and renewals can be automated too.

Note: WHMCS is commercial software and needs a licence, which is purchased separately.

WHMCS hosting requirements

WHMCS needs a paid licence, PHP with the ionCube Loader and MySQL/MariaDB. Hoopla reseller hosting includes WHM and cPanel, branded nameservers and the resources to run both WHMCS and your customers' accounts. WHMCS also needs a cron job, which you can set up in cPanel.

Getting started with WHMCS

  1. Order a Reseller Hosting plan, or log in to your existing Hoopla cPanel account.
  2. Open Softaculous Apps Installer in cPanel and search for WHMCS.
  3. Choose the domain to install on, set your admin username, password and email, then click Install.
  4. Buy a WHMCS licence, or contact us about licensing options for Hoopla reseller customers.
  5. Install WHMCS from Softaculous, enter your licence key and set up the WHMCS cron job in cPanel.
  6. Add your WHM server, create your hosting products and connect a payment gateway.

Do I need a WHMCS licence?

Can WHMCS create hosting accounts automatically?

Yes. With reseller hosting, WHMCS connects to WHM and creates, suspends and terminates cPanel accounts automatically.

Can I resell domains through WHMCS?

Can I use my own branding?
