You can cancel a hosting service or stop a domain from renewing yourself in the client area. Here's how, and what to do first.
Before you cancel: take a backup
When a hosting service ends, its website files, databases and email are removed from our servers. Download a copy of anything you want to keep first. You can do this from Backup under Quick Shortcuts on your service page.
If your domain's email is hosted with us, it will stop working when the hosting is cancelled, unless you move it somewhere else first.
Cancel a hosting service
- Go to Services → My Services (https://www.hooplahosting.co.nz/client/clientarea.php?action=services) and open the service you want to cancel.
- Click Request Cancellation in the menu on the left.
- Tell us briefly why you're leaving (this helps us improve), and choose when you want it to end:
- End of billing period: the service keeps running until the date you've already paid up to.
- Immediate: the service is removed as soon as the request is processed.
- Submit the request.
Please give at least 2 business days' notice before your renewal date. If the renewal has already been invoiced, open a ticket and let us know so we can sort out the invoice.
Stop a domain renewing
Domains don't need a cancellation request. Just turn off auto-renew and the domain will expire on its due date.
- Go to Domains → My Domains (https://www.hooplahosting.co.nz/client/clientarea.php?action=domains) and open the domain.
- Click Auto Renew in the Manage menu on the left.
- Choose Disable Auto Renew.
Any website or email using the domain will stop working once it expires. If you change your mind, you can still renew it from the same page any time before then.
Moving your domain to another provider? Don't let it expire. Instead, open the domain, click Get UDAI/EPP Code (UDAI for .nz domains, EPP for others) and give that code to your new provider to start the transfer.
Refunds
If you cancel a hosting service within 30 days of ordering it, you'll get a full refund under our money-back guarantee. After that, we don't generally refund the remaining part of a paid period. See Do you offer a money back guarantee? and our Terms of Service.
If you're leaving because something isn't working for you, let us know. We may be able to fix it, or move you to a plan that suits you better.
