How to connect Claude Desktop or claude.ai to your cPanel account
Connect the Claude app (on the web at claude.ai, or the Claude desktop app for Mac and Windows) to your Hoopla Hosting cPanel account. Once connected you can manage your hosting in plain English, for example "list my email accounts" or "how much disk space am I using?".
This guide is for the everyday Claude chat app. If you use Claude Code (the developer tool), see Connect Claude Code to your cPanel instead.
Before you start
- An active Hoopla Hosting web hosting account using the cPanel Meridian theme. (In cPanel, click Try new Meridian Theme at the top of the page.)
- A free WebPros account (you can create one during Step 1).
- A Claude account. Custom connectors work on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. Free plans are limited to one custom connector.
Step 1: Get your connection details from cPanel Meridian
- Log in to cPanel from our client area.
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and open Profile → Connections. (You can also type "Connections" into the cPanel search bar.)
- In the MCP Connection section, click Link WebPros Account, then sign in to WebPros and approve the link.
- Meridian now shows your MCP connection details. Copy the Client ID.
The MCP server address is:
https://mcp.webpros.com/api/mcp
Keep your Client ID private. Don't paste it into support tickets, forums or screenshots.
Step 2: Add cPanel as a custom connector in Claude
Pro, Max and Free plans:
- In Claude (web or desktop), open Customize → Connectors (on some versions this is under Settings → Connectors).
- Click + and choose Add custom connector.
- Give it a name, for example
Hoopla cPanel. - In the URL field, enter
https://mcp.webpros.com/api/mcp - Expand Advanced settings and paste your Client ID into the OAuth Client ID field. Leave OAuth Client Secret empty unless Meridian gave you one.
- Click Add.
Team and Enterprise plans: an organisation Owner must first add the connector under Organization settings → Connectors using the same details. Members then go to Customize → Connectors and click Connect.
Step 3: Approve the connection
- Click Connect next to the new connector.
- A browser window opens. Sign in to your WebPros account and approve access.
- You're returned to Claude and the connector shows as connected.
Step 4: Turn it on in a chat and try it
In a new chat, click the + button at the bottom left of the message box, choose Connectors, and make sure your cPanel connector is switched on. Then ask something like:
- "List the email accounts on my cPanel."
- "How much disk space am I using?"
- "Show me the DNS records for mydomain.co.nz."
- "What PHP version is my site running?"
Start with read-only questions like these before asking Claude to change anything. Claude will ask for your permission before it uses a cPanel tool. Read each request carefully, especially anything that changes or deletes data.
Disconnecting
- In Claude: go to Customize → Connectors, select the cPanel connector and disconnect or remove it.
- In cPanel: go to Profile → Connections and unlink or revoke the WebPros / MCP connection. This stops access straight away.
Security tips
- Claude acts with your cPanel account's permissions, so review each action before you approve it.
- Take a backup (cPanel → Backup) before asking Claude to make big changes.
- Revoke the connection if you stop using it or think it has been misused.
