These steps install cPanel & WHM on a Hoopla dedicated server using the server's built-in console. If you'd rather connect over SSH, follow How to manually install cPanel.
Before you start
- The server needs a freshly installed, supported operating system: AlmaLinux 8, 9 or 10, CloudLinux 8 or 9, or Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 LTS.
- You'll need a cPanel licence for the server's IP address.
- Set the server's hostname to a fully qualified domain name, such as
server.yourdomain.co.nz. Don't use a domain you plan to host websites on. - Have your server's root login ready.
Step 1: Open the console
On your server's page, click Open Console to open a terminal on your server.
Step 2: Log in and run the installer
Log in as root, then run:
cd /home && curl -o latest -L https://securedownloads.cpanel.net/latest && sh latestThe installation can take 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the server. Keep the console open and let it finish.
Step 3: Log in to WHM
Open https://your-server-ip:2087 in your browser and log in as root. Your browser may warn you about the certificate on first login, which is expected. Then follow the setup wizard to finish configuring the server.
