Install Webmin on AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux or Ubuntu

Webmin is a free, browser-based tool for managing a Linux VPS or dedicated server. These steps install it from Webmin's official repository, so it updates along with your other system packages. They work on AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, CloudLinux and Ubuntu. For other systems, see Webmin's download page: https://webmin.com/download/

Don't install Webmin on a server running cPanel. cPanel and WHM already manage the server, and the two can conflict.

Install Webmin

1. Connect to your server over SSH as root, using a client such as PuTTY, Windows Terminal or macOS Terminal.
2. Download Webmin's repository setup script:
   curl -o setup-repos.sh https://raw.githubusercontent.com/webmin/webmin/master/setup-repos.sh
3. Run the script, then enter y when it asks to set up the repository:
   sh setup-repos.sh
4. Install Webmin:
   AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux or CloudLinux: dnf install -y webmin
   Ubuntu: apt install -y webmin --install-recommends
5. If your server runs a firewall, open port 10000:
   firewalld (AlmaLinux, Rocky, CloudLinux): firewall-cmd --permanent --add-port=10000/tcp && firewall-cmd --reload
   UFW (Ubuntu): ufw allow 10000/tcp

Log in

Open https://your-server-ip:10000 in your browser and log in as root. For details, see How do I log in to Webmin?

Keep Webmin updated

Webmin updates with the rest of your system when you run dnf update (AlmaLinux, Rocky, CloudLinux) or apt update && apt upgrade (Ubuntu).
